Use This 3-Step Funnel to Sell Any Digital Product

Selling a digital product doesn’t require a massive audience, a fancy website, or a 47-step sales funnel.

In fact, the most effective funnels are simple, clear, and focused.

Whether you’re launching an ebook, course, template, or workshop—this 3-step funnel can help you turn attention into sales without overwhelm.

Here’s how to build a lightweight system that works for any digital product.

1. Capture attention with a free lead magnet

Before you sell anything, you need someone’s attention—and trust.

That starts with a lead magnet: a free, useful resource that solves a small but specific problem for your ideal customer.

Examples:

  • A checklist (“10 Things You Need Before Launching Your First Product”)
  • A free template or swipe file
  • A short email course
  • A quick-start guide or toolkit

Keep it targeted and outcome-focused. You’re not giving away everything—you’re showing a preview of your value.

Use a simple landing page with:

  • A clear headline
  • A short description of the benefit
  • An email opt-in form

Tools like ConvertKit, Beehiiv, or MailerLite make this easy (and many are free to start).

2. Deliver value with a short, automated email sequence

Once someone opts in, don’t sell immediately.
Instead, build trust through a short email sequence (3–5 emails) that does three things:

  1. Teaches something useful
  2. Builds your credibility (share your story, wins, or past client results)
  3. Prepares them for the offer by showing why your product solves a real problem

You’re not hyping. You’re helping.

Think of this like onboarding a new subscriber into your world—then inviting them to take the next step.

3. Pitch your product with clarity and urgency

At the end of your email sequence, introduce your digital product.
But don’t just describe it—sell the transformation.

Focus on:

  • What problem it solves
  • What result they’ll get
  • Why it’s easier, faster, or smarter than doing it alone

Use simple sales copy with:

  • A clear product promise
  • A few bullet points of what’s included
  • Testimonials or proof (if available)
  • A direct call-to-action (“Click here to get started”)

To boost conversions, add urgency:

  • A limited-time bonus
  • A short discount window
  • A countdown to a live session or cohort start

Even simple urgency can nudge people off the fence.

Action Step
Choose one digital product you already have (or plan to create). Then write down:

  1. A simple lead magnet idea you can offer
  2. Three emails you’d send to build trust
  3. A clear pitch for the product’s result
Start with that. A 3-step funnel like this can run on autopilot—and sell for you 24/7.
